Why do wigs have to cost so much? I need a new wig for my Amy's Choice costume, 2 Rose Tyler wigs (one that I'll need to add roots to), and a Daria wig since my hair is no longer anything like hers. Maybe I'll just get bangs cut again before Dragon*Con. Either way, though it'll cost money!

I just need to win the lottery or something. That would be nice.

Since I want to be a Children's/YA Librarian, I like to keep up with current YA Lit. Plus, I just tend to like it more. I've been a fan of Meg Cabot ever since I was a teenager myself, and still read every book she releases. I've been a fan of Libba Bray ever since A Great and Terrible Beauty came out, and I've read Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver and really liked it. So when I saw Meg Cabot post on twitter that she was doing an event for This Is Teen with Maggie and Libba, I knew I had to go, even if I wasn't exactly the target demographic.

It was a fun night. I got there around 15 minutes before doors, expecting a line, but only a couple of people were hanging around. Hanson really has ruined my ability to judge when to show up for events, because I keep I have to get there really early.

On the website, it said there would be "giveaways and cool interactive games". Not so much. They had blown up covers that you could pose with by putting your head in the cut out, but there were no games or giveaways. Once they opened the doors, they just filed everyone in, and they were playing the same 3 videos over and over again, until it was time for the authors to come out. I just ended up talking to the people who were sitting behind me, first about the adaptation of Avalon High, and how much it sucked, then about how much Twilight sucks, and then about how awesome Jane Austen is. Good times.

All the authors were very funny. I had front row, and the first thing Libba Bray did when she started talking was point at me and say "First, I NEED to know where you got that shirt! Be sure to tell me later!" So glad I decided to wear my Doctor Pooh shirt.

Meg Cabot was so sweet when I met her. First, she told me she liked my flower I was wearing in my hair, and then she told me she liked my glasses. I then told her I had been reading her books since I was a teen, 11 years ago. She then went to sign my Princess Diaries book, and realized how old it was and said "This must have been your first book!" She then asked if I wanted to take a picture with her, which surprised me. I wasn't expecting to be able to take a picture with them at all, and hadn't planned on asking!

It came out blurry, sadly.Collapse )

Libba Bray was also so nice. I talked to her about my shirt, told her where she could get it, how it sadly wasn't available anymore on that site, but they had a link to the artist's website where she could get it, and if she couldn't find it there, to google "Doctor Pooh".

I got a picture with her, too.Collapse )

All in all, it was a fun night, and I'm really glad I went.

Now, if I only hadn't waited so long to try to get Neil Gaiman tickets...

[27 Mar 2011|10:42pm]
[ mood | confused ]

I am having an issue.

I'm taking a YA Lit class. For my final project, I have to either write a 6-10 page paper, or create a project (with a 3-4 written paper explaining the project).

I really want to do a creative project. Originally, I wanted to do a photo project, and I think if the professor hadn't changed in the beginning, I could have gotten away with it with the old one, and gotten an A. The problem is, I don't think I can half-ass it with the new professor. I get B's on all the papers, but I did get an A on the midterm paper, which I went overboard on. (It was supposed to be 3-4 pages, I wrote 7)

Now I'm thinking I want to do a video. But I don't actually know how to do that. I also want to do it on Harry Potter, the fandom, and how the books have affected people. I have all these ideas, and no idea how to put them together. Plus, all my HP photos and videos are on my old laptop and external. Both of which are broken. NOT COOL.

I'm really hoping I come up with something...I need to hand in my topic on Tuesday.

The Last Airbender [29 Jun 2010|11:41pm]
[ mood | listless ]

I'm posting this because I saw an advanced screening today, was disappointed, and told my friend so on facebook. She asked me why, but since she hasn't seen it yet, and I don't want to spoil her too much, here is a list pertaining as too why I didn't like the movie. Just be forewarned, since I was writing it as a fb comment, it reads like one. A lot of it isn't as detailed as it could be, and I don't feel like going back and changing and writing more.

Warning. Spoilers. A lot of them.Collapse )

And so I leave you with this:

I couldn't find the bigger gif version (if one even exists), so you're stuck with this.

I got Rob Paulsen's autograph yesterday! If you don't know who Rob Paulsen is....

He is the talented voice actor of such characters as...Collapse )

He's amazing. This girl and I were totally geeking out over him when we found out he was there. Our breakroom was right next to the theater where they were premiering "Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure" for annual passholders, and Rob was there to take pictures and sign autographs with them. The security guard saw us by the door, and invited us to take a peek, but when he found out that we wanted to meet Rob Paulsen, he said he'd try to get us in. Unfortunately, it didn't work out, we just saw him from a distance, and he said bye to us, but the security guard did get us personalized autographs from him!

I'm living in Patterson. We've had a couple of problems with the plumbing, and with the internet, but the internet is working now, and they're working on the plumbing.

I just got back from Day 2. I don't have to take Traditions, because I was an active cast member the entire time. Which is sad, because I totally bought a Traditions outfit, and it's really cute, and I might end up returning it.

I start training tomorrow! SQUEE! The only problem is that I can't pick up my ID until two days after my arrival date, which is tomorrow, and I start training 8:30-5:30. Access Control is only open 8-4, or some such hours. So I'm going to go by later today, explain what's going on, and see if they can give me my ID today.

I'm so nervous! I didn't expect my training to start TOMORROW.

My friend ended up cancelling on me. She had to drive her roommate to work, and invited me to hang out with her at her apt, since it would take her an hour to get to WDW after dropping off her friend, and could only stay for 3 hours or so. So I ended up hanging out with Dee, again, and we went around and met Jacquie while she was friends with Belle, and her friend, Katie, while she was hanging out with Mickey Mouse.

And it got me thinking. I don't know that many people from the facebook group. I used to talk to more of them, back when I was auditioning, and waiting around, and I used to go into the chatroom a lot. But then I had to stop going online so much, so I could pass my classes, and, you know, actually graduate. And then this summer, I worked so much that I barely signed on AIM, and stopped using Facebook so much. I talked to a few people on here, but not that many.

It kinda makes me sad. Because I'm meeting all these people, and they all know each other from Facebook, and have no clue who I am.

Okay, enough being emo. Now it's time for some pictures.Collapse )

I MADE IT! [08 Aug 2008|11:23am]
[ mood | happy ]

I am now in FL! As soon as I started driving I felt like I was home.

I drove around and found a Panera, which is the one near Chatham, because I decided to try and figure out where Chatham is, and I arrived early and wanted to wait before going to check in at the hotel. The train was relatively uneventful, except for the two screaming kids in front of me. One of them woke up around 5:30, and started playing with their seat, moving it back, and forward again, and bringing the leg rest up and releasing it. SO ANNOYING. The person sitting next to me went and slept in the lounge, so I was able to sleep across 2 seats, thank god. I actually managed to get some sleep.

Not much is going on today. I will probably be hanging out at the hotel this afternoon, resting, and then going to hang out with Dee and some others, probably at DTD.

I'm going to hang out at the parks tomorrow with my friend, Kat. Most likely MGM (I still refuse to call it Hollywood Studios). I want to try out the Toy Story Mania ride, and see Indy, and Beauty and the Beast, go on ToT and RnRC. I missed Disney.

[ mood | sleepy ]

I've finished the first part of my trip. I'm now in VA, after a very eventful morning.

I was supposed to leave this morning around 10. I didn't end up leaving until 11. I stopped by the post office first, to mail asyouleft her birthday present, and then met my father for a quick breakfast. We went to his car to pick up his EZ Pass (which I was so glad to have, considering my drivers side window doesn't roll down!). I then went to the ATM, and transferred money from my savings to checking account. The armored car was there, and he was waiting for me to finish, so I grabbed my receipt and left. Notice what I didn't grab. My card. I turned around as soon as I noticed, but it was too late. So I had to go to the bank down the street, and have them cancel my card, get a temporary card, and let them know I was moving to FL, which I had forgotten to do earlier.

The drive itself was uneventful, thankfully. I ended up getting down here around 8. Krista, the girl who is letting me stay in the hotel room with her, got here around 9:30, so I grabbed some food and started reading Breaking Dawn. Don't get me started on that.

I'm taking the Auto Train tomorrow, and will be arriving in Fl Friday morning. I don't know when I'll have access to the internet again. I'm going to try and find a Panera or something with free wi-fi, but no guarantees. :)

Packing Post!! [02 Aug 2008|05:25pm]
[ mood | satisfied ]

I hate packing. It's hard. I have a lot of stuff, and it's hard for me to go through it all and decide what to take and what to leave behind. I am a packrat. I am emotionally attached to a lot of the stuff I own, most has its own little story, even the stuff that looks like junk.

And now for lots of pictures of the stuff I am takingCollapse )

[ mood | contemplative ]

It's late at night, I have to work tomorrow morning, and I can't sleep.

I've started packing. Pretty soon I'll take lots of pictures of my progress, because I have a lot of stuff. I hope it all fits in my car. Eek.

For the past couple of months (probably since around the time of my audition) I've wanted to start taking ballet classes again. I researched some places around here, but they had already started their spring classes, so I wasn't able to start. Someone posted a link on the CP facebook group of a dance studio down in FL that has adult dance classes. They're pay as you go, and character performers get a discount. I really want to go. I'm seriously considering it. I've missed dancing ever since I've stopped. There's beginning ballet and beginning jazz classes on Tuesday nights. Since it's pay as you go, I won't have to worry about working and missing classes, and it should help me improve my color code, which I'm sure I'll need.

I really need to go to bed now...

just 2 more weeks until I'm down at Disney!!

okay, so I know I just posted last night about how excited I was, and how I was having dreams (I did have another one last night), but today I got a packet of trip planning information from Disney, because I'm staying at the Carribean Beach. And can I just say that it's not helping my excitement?! 44 days until I leave, 45 until I'm in FL, and 48 until I'm checking in. How am I supposed to wait 44 days?!?
